Gas Log Maintenance and Repair
A thorough check and cleaning is done on the gas log fireplace and chimney. It is recommended by manufacturers to perform this service at least once annually, preferably just before the Fall season prior to the first cold weather drop in temperature, when you may feel the urge to light your unit. It is important to have this service done prior to any potential use of the gas log fireplace. You don’t want any problems to occur that can cause you or your family or business serious harm.
The service needed depends on the type of gas fireplace that you have. In general, our service inspection and cleaning includes the following:
Pilot and burner orifices inspected and cleaned thoroughly
Fireplace box vacuumed out
Burners and logs cleaned up
Safety switches checked
Glass door cleaned and reinstalled
Control compartment vacuumed and cleaned
Gas valve and junction box tested
We will leave the pilot light in whatever position you prefer
Burner is lighted and checked
Whole system is checked for proper running function
Is there anything that I need to do to maintain my gas fireplace?
There are several things you can do as a home-owner or property owner as well. It is important that you realize that routine checks and maintenance can possibly save you or your family from an unexpected and possibly lethal disaster. It will also prolong the life of your appliance, helping you stay warmer longer. We recommend that you perform the following maintenance at least monthly:
Clean the unit’s glass with glass cleaner (on both sides if it has glass)
Check the gasket for cracks or broken pieces (located on the glass door or exterior around the firebox, on some direct vent units)
Check the bolts, wing nuts, brackets, hinges, etc. to make sure door is secured tightly
Keep the logs and burners clean and free of any dust dirt or debris.
